The morning dawned bright and clear, a glorious day, as yet unmarred by explosions, mangled corpses, or science gone wrong. Not that Pierce noticed the daylight. He'd been up all night and was now sitting in the kitchen. There was a webwork of wires crawling along his face and head, contact pads looking like little feet all across his skin while he contemplated...a plate of cookies.

These were ideal cookies. Cookies that defined every kids' dream of chocolate chip; large, soft, tempting. The smell alone would make a weaker man tremble at the knee!

And he hadn't touched them yet because he wanted to make sure all the senses were registering properly and that anticipation readings could be taken as well. Was it any wonder he was a little zoned out?

"Oh, that makes sense. And I won't be waiting for my cup of coffee to disappear in mid sip or something!" Spaghetti, casserole, and pizza all went in the microwave!

"Mmph? Hmph. See if I make bunnies for you again."

"Probably for the best. We broke a lot of furniture." It was totally not Dilan's fault alone!

"Well, yeah, but that happens a lot anyway. Remember that sonic wave some idiot in frat row managed? That pulped everything in three blocks! We're lucky the house stayed up!" So really, put in perspective, some of the furniture wasn't bad!

"Ugh, yeah." Dilan snarled a little, "That sucked."

[techie_prowess]

"Hey, at least you were down in the lab! And those ear drops helped!" He got oddly optimistic when he was tired! "Did we ever get back at that guy? I know we thought about it but it was also finals week."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah. I spiked his coffee with heavy duty sedatives. He slept through finals." Dilan said, without hint of shame.

[techie_prowess]

"Score!" Pierce laughed. "Dude, you're a lot nicer than I was going to be. I was going to slip micro-caterpillar machines in his breakfast cereal."

"I had extras." Dilan said mildly.

[techie_prowess]

"Well, yeah, still. Nice extras. How's the thing that isn't the wheat thing coming?"

"Pretty good." Dilan said, followed by a spate of technobabble fit to tie.

[techie_prowess]

"Dude, yeah, that's better than you expected!" He gave Dilan a cheerful thumbs up before pulling his plate out of the microwave. "Hey, have you been fiddling with Sheeva any?" Random thoughts were random!

"No." Dilan said, blinking, "Braig doesn't like me experimenting on the pets now that I have a reliable source for hamsters."

[techie_prowess]

"Huh." he noted helpfully. "I haven't had to reset her as much recently. Think she's finally adjusting properly? It's down like..." quick mental calculations "...22%?"

"Might be!" Dilan said, "We should give her a checkup and take her to the vet."

[techie_prowess]

"Yeah, totally! Hmmm, sleeping today. Tomorrow? Friday? Get the freshman to do it if our schedules suck?"

"I'll do it." Dilan said, "You are going to sleep. I'll take Cat, too."

[techie_prowess]

"But you have your wheat thing to do today." Schedules sucked sometimes! "They won't walk off or anything? Turn into amazing space wheat and start running the campus?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"No, it'll be fine." Dilan promised, "Having pets means taking care of them."

[techie_prowess]

"Alright, but don't let any new vet guys take a screwdriver to Sheeva!" Pierce worried! "Oh, and do you need some sunglasses to take since you're taking Cat?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"I won't." Dilan promised, "I'll take them to our usual vet...and she's already got glasses. Thank you, though."

[techie_prowess]

"They get new vet techs sometimes! I have to worry!" He totally did! Sheeva was his baby too! "And whyyyy is Sheeva not down here by the food?" The microwave had dinged! It was a puppy summoning spell!

"I won't let anyone hurt her, I promise." Dilan blinked, "I don't know. Maybe she's sleeping?"

[techie_prowess]

"Okay, good. She's a good dog." And it was comments like that that had let the boys adopt a retired police animal! "We should find her. I bet she'd developed vet-sensing powers."

"Yes, yes she is." Dilan agreed, "I'll go look for her, you keep eating." Dilan headed out, calling for her.

[techie_prowess]

"Okay, I'll help as soon as I'm done!" Because he was hungry man. Because he was very hungry and had apparently been eating pencils in the past few days.

Eventually there was a cheerful thumping from upstairs? It sounded a lot like a tail. A tail thumping under blankets.

Sheeva had won the 'let me sleeeeeeep on the bedddddd' wars with the girls.
