The morning dawned bright and clear, a glorious day, as yet unmarred by explosions, mangled corpses, or science gone wrong. Not that Pierce noticed the daylight. He'd been up all night and was now sitting in the kitchen. There was a webwork of wires crawling along his face and head, contact pads looking like little feet all across his skin while he contemplated...a plate of cookies.

These were ideal cookies. Cookies that defined every kids' dream of chocolate chip; large, soft, tempting. The smell alone would make a weaker man tremble at the knee!

And he hadn't touched them yet because he wanted to make sure all the senses were registering properly and that anticipation readings could be taken as well. Was it any wonder he was a little zoned out?

Eventually, eventually, the staring was noticed! That made him blink and shiiiift just enough to look at Dilan. "I'm doing science." Really he was. Oh, wait.

Ohhhhh.

"I don't have any coffee readings yet..."

"I know." Dilan said, then he pulled his cup closer to his chest. "Mine. Not yours."

Blink. Bliiink. HURT LOOK!

"I don't have any katzu readings yet either! None! What do you have planned for today?"

"I'm a genetic sport, I'd skew your conclusions." Dilan pointed out, still holding his coffee to his chest. "I was going to go and work on my wheat seeds."

[techie_prowess]

"These are not conclusive readings but spectrum readings! Genetics, aside from the fact you have generally katzu tastebuds, doesn't matter!" Dilan wanted to help him didn't he? "Would you mind wearing a net today?"

Dilan frowned, "For a while. After a while they start to bug me, and I'm afraid I'll tear it without thinking about it."

[techie_prowess]

"That's cool dude! A while is better than nothing! And even I realize I can't encode and generate cookie tasting for all comers! You'll be a big help for those who don't care for cookies!" No, that really wasn't suppose to make sense unless you followed Pierce's work!

"When you're done with your coffee we'll go downstairs for a spare net and set up a data folder for yours."

"...Ew. You owe me if you're going to make me eat a cookie." Dilan said, making a face and going back to sipping his coffee.

[techie_prowess]

"I'm not! I'm collecting enjoyable sensations today! You get to eat things you enjoy eating! I have some flyers up to get subjects to do the gross eating!"

"Okay. Then I'll wear it for lunch, Braig got me ostrich."

[techie_prowess]

"Awesome! Hey, do you think Braig will wear one? I can pay him in cookies! I think. Do you have any idea where the cookies came from?"

"I dunno, you should ask him." Dilan said, "I bet the girls made the cookies. They've been doing a lot of cooking, it's pretty cool."

[techie_prowess]

"I haven't seen him yet but I'll ask him when I do!" Pierce agreed, then poked a cookie. "But they shouldn't be up yet! And the cookies were warm when I came up! And what if they're alien cookies?! I mean, there's worse things to sneak past security than baked goods but..."

"Pierce." Dilan looked at him, "The girls had an early morning class."

Blink. Bliiiink.

...

"It's Wednesday?!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yes. When did you last eat?" This was an important question!

[techie_prowess]

"That's why I came upstairs! My pencils kept disappearing!" he snorted and turned toward the fridge. Real food before cookies? "What happen to Tuesday and Monday?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"I think you zoned through them." Which was something that everyone in the house did now and then, really. "I would'a missed them, but Braig kept dragging me to bed."

[techie_prowess]

"Yeah, I guess I did unless Braig's been messing with time." It was possible given the man was researching how to rip holes in reality! "I'll sleep sometime today. After food! Hey, casserole..."

"He's not allowed to screw with time in the house." Dilan said, pouring another cup of coffee. "You better sleep, you reprogram things when you're tired."

[techie_prowess]

"Oh, that's a good rule. When did we make it?" Pierce mumbled to himself, pulling leftovers out of the fridge with little regard for what would actually taste good together. "And you had fun when I reprogrammed last! You were chasing my holograms all day!" Because they'd been bunnies.

Alarm bunnies.

It made sense at the time!

"After the coffee cup." Dilan said, "And that didn't count! I was tired too!"

[techie_prowess]

"The cup wasn't time though...was it? He told me he missed a decimal point in a location!" Now he was going to wonder if a coffee cup in the future was going to disappear on him!

"It was still fun."

[sliceitwithwind]

"No, I just decided that if he couldn't keep cups out of the wall he couldn't do time in the house." Dilan explained, "Mmph."

[techie_prowess]

"Oh, that makes sense. And I won't be waiting for my cup of coffee to disappear in mid sip or something!" Spaghetti, casserole, and pizza all went in the microwave!

"Mmph? Hmph. See if I make bunnies for you again."
