The morning dawned bright and clear, a glorious day, as yet unmarred by explosions, mangled corpses, or science gone wrong. Not that Pierce noticed the daylight. He'd been up all night and was now sitting in the kitchen. There was a webwork of wires crawling along his face and head, contact pads looking like little feet all across his skin while he contemplated...a plate of cookies.

These were ideal cookies. Cookies that defined every kids' dream of chocolate chip; large, soft, tempting. The smell alone would make a weaker man tremble at the knee!

And he hadn't touched them yet because he wanted to make sure all the senses were registering properly and that anticipation readings could be taken as well. Was it any wonder he was a little zoned out?

"Yeah, I think so. Numb people are not thinking people."

"Or struggling enough to possibly hurt themselves people." Since they were aiming for humane and all. "Bet we could market to SWAT or something."

"Eh." Dilan didn't tend to think past this would be cool, really.

[techie_prowess]

"Eh yourself! It spreads an ethical restraint solution to the world and funds the next project!"

"Okay, Pierce." Dilan said aimiably.

[techie_prowess]

"You have no appreciation for funding!" Pierce snorted. Not that the man had to given who he dated but still it was fun to tease! "Still, I'll poke the housing after I sleep. You're on adhesive and numbing!"

"Okay." Dilan said, smiling beautifically, "After I get back from the vet."

[techie_prowess]

"Which means you'll get the jump on me," with the sleeping thing. "But that's alright. I need an idea of what consistency your compound will have anyway!"

"Yes." Dilan agreed, smiling sweetly, "It will be fun...I could probably start with...hmmm..." Sorry, Pierce, Dilan is out for the moment.

[techie_prowess]

"Yeah, it's going to be a lot of fun! And then Braig can gun down people on the quad in testing!" Pierce was just going to steer the man into an out of the way corner of the kitchen so he could clean up his lunch dishes properly without bumping into him!

Dilan went where he was pushed without fighting, he was too deep in thought to do more than grunt a little bit.

Yep. Uh-huh. Maybe the brainstorming had been a mistake before the vet thing? "Dilan? Yo, earth to scientist brain? What time is the appointment? I'll stay awake if you're spacing."

"Three." Dilan said, "Set an alarm for me?"

[techie_prowess]

"Watch alarm or will you need something louder?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Watch'll do."

[techie_prowess]

The easiest thing to do was to fiddle the watch on his wrist (he had lots) and pas sit over. "It'll blare at 2 man. That give you enough time to pack the fuzzballs up and get over there?"

"Okay." Dilan said, already gone again. The next thing that fell out of his mouth was a collection of tensile equations.

Pierce just laughed and turned him toward the lab doors. He'd...be setting his own alarm for 2:15 just in case. After all, he did worry about the bionic big sister of his system!

At 2.15 Dilan and the pets were gone, and Braig was standing near the kitchen table frowning at a note.

[techie_prowess]

Pierce stumble out of his room, peered around blearily and...pointed dramatically at Braig. "You! Have you seen Dilan? Is he here?!"

"Nope. Any clue what this is about?"

The note said Gone to (chemical notations) with pets back (equations).

[techie_prowess]

"Huh, oh, glue. And vet." Totally! "Good, he's gone." Mumble mumble mumble? "We're worried about Sheeva? And gonna give you a gun."

"Start at the beginning, Pierce." Braig said, in a long-suffering tone.

[techie_prowess]

Bleeeeeary look. He'd had like, two hours sleep! "I was testing cookies. Yeah, cookies. I forgot to net Dilan!" FACEPALM!

"Testing cookies." Braig agreed, "And then...?"
