The morning dawned bright and clear, a glorious day, as yet unmarred by explosions, mangled corpses, or science gone wrong. Not that Pierce noticed the daylight. He'd been up all night and was now sitting in the kitchen. There was a webwork of wires crawling along his face and head, contact pads looking like little feet all across his skin while he contemplated...a plate of cookies.

These were ideal cookies. Cookies that defined every kids' dream of chocolate chip; large, soft, tempting. The smell alone would make a weaker man tremble at the knee!

And he hadn't touched them yet because he wanted to make sure all the senses were registering properly and that anticipation readings could be taken as well. Was it any wonder he was a little zoned out?

"Strong in what way?" He might be able to help with that! Still, back to the main point..."And if you want that to happen some day you should study Braig's book with me!"

"Mentally." Dilan said, "Emotionally. Ethically. Probably physically, I'm really strong."

[techie_prowess]

"Okay, that last one I can help with if you find the first three! I will totally give you a free girlfriend upgrade!"

Dilan just blinked at Pierce. "Um. Okay."

[techie_prowess]

"Hey, you're my friend! If you find a girl you like who;s just lacking some strength I can totally swing some carbon steel bones and maybe some other upgrades so you can be happy!" TOTALLY! It was what friends were for! "I can't help with the other three though. I'm not a psychologist."

"That is such a good thing." Dilan said, "You'd be a terrible psychologist. Almost as bad as I would."

[techie_prowess]

"Well, yeah, I believe the world seriously needs more people who believe they're fungi or something," Pierce snorted. And this, coincidentally, was part of why he couldn't help with the ethical bit too! "And they'd pay me to convince them!"

"I think that's why Braig says you're a bad influence." Dilan said mildly, "That sounds like an ethics thing."

[techie_prowess]

"Eh, he loves me anyway." Pierce shrugged. "And yeah, I guess it is, but see? I'm being good! I'm not in psychology!"

"True." Dilan said, frowning, "I think that convincing people they're fungi is on the no list."

[techie_prowess]

"Mine or yours?" This could be an important question! "And I'm pretty sure one of the cults this semester is heading that route anyway...just without our influence!"

"Mine. I don't keep track of yours." Dilan said, shaking his head, "Huh. We should keep an eye on them. Fungi-people would be awkward."

[techie_prowess]

"Awkward? Of all the adjectives you pick awkward? Why? I just kind of assume they'll run into an opposing 'fungus on pizza' cult and all the problems will be solved!"

"Um. Because I never know what to use to keep them back without killing them?"

[techie_prowess]

"Glue guns." It made perfect sense to him! "In fact high threshold polymer dispersal would probably hold most things in an emergency situation without killing them!"

"Huh." Dilan thought about that, "Yeah...we should work on those."

[techie_prowess]

"Yep. Are we expecting an invasion?" Knowing was good? "I can totally work on prototype stuff when the sensory readings are collating!"

"I dunno. Why shouldn't we work on those?" Dilan asked.

[techie_prowess]

"We should! It'll be awesome! I just like to know if there's pressing reasons for weapons so I know if it's a rush job!"

"Nah. The girls'd probably like them too!"

[techie_prowess]

"Okaaaaay, so we're making an arsenal of glue guns. Cool." That let them experiment with formats! "Want to make the glue compound numbing too?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, I think so. Numb people are not thinking people."

[techie_prowess]

"Or struggling enough to possibly hurt themselves people." Since they were aiming for humane and all. "Bet we could market to SWAT or something."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Eh." Dilan didn't tend to think past this would be cool, really.

[techie_prowess]

"Eh yourself! It spreads an ethical restraint solution to the world and funds the next project!"
