The morning dawned bright and clear, a glorious day, as yet unmarred by explosions, mangled corpses, or science gone wrong. Not that Pierce noticed the daylight. He'd been up all night and was now sitting in the kitchen. There was a webwork of wires crawling along his face and head, contact pads looking like little feet all across his skin while he contemplated...a plate of cookies.

These were ideal cookies. Cookies that defined every kids' dream of chocolate chip; large, soft, tempting. The smell alone would make a weaker man tremble at the knee!

And he hadn't touched them yet because he wanted to make sure all the senses were registering properly and that anticipation readings could be taken as well. Was it any wonder he was a little zoned out?

"Sheeva! Get down here now!" Dilan called, "It's breakfast time!"

Thump thump thump whiiiiiiine?

Fiiiine.

Different kind of thumping then Sheeva was trotting down to look at Dilan soulfully. SOULFULLY!

Dilan put a bit of kibble into her bowl and held it down for her. Food!

FOOD! Dilan was officially forgiven!

Pierce looked up from polishing his plate and grinned. "There she is! How's the leg girl? You look like you're feeling spry! Yes you are!" Anyone standing near Sheeva was getting their shins whacked by tail as she ate AND got compliments!

Dilan skritched her head and smiled before drifting off to make a vet appointment.

"No, I promise. Just Cat and Sheeva. No hamsters or snakes."

[techie_prowess]

"Dude is that what's her name?! The cute one? She's cute! I'm sorry we made her faint!" Pierce called, feeding Sheeva the last of his spaghetti dipped pizza crust while trying to listen to the phone conversation.

"It's the nurse, Pierce. Sheesh." Dilan said, shaking his head, "Okay...I'll be there at three. Thank you."

"Yeah, I know! The nurse is hot! And the Doctor is married so she's off limits you know?" He was allowed to find people hot! "And like the whole clinic fainted that time you brought the ichor hamsters."

"I said I was sorry!" Dilan protested, "Sheesh. It's not my fault they got fevers."

[techie_prowess]

"Dude, sorry doesn't cut it with girls! They stay angry for a long time!" It was just how the world worked! "And who could you tell they had fevers? They pupated a week later! It could have been normal!"

Actually girls had a distressing tendency to melt at Dilan. It came from his good looks merging with his complete and total lack of understanding, "Well...I was worried."

Well, eventually a girl would manage to get angry at him! Then where would he be?! "Well, yeah, you worry." A lot. Dilan was full of quirks! Good quirks! "Should we send flowers or something with you? To say sorry some more?"

"Um. I don't know?" Dilan blinked at him, "What if they have allergies?"

[techie_prowess]

Blink. Bliiiink. "Smart question! Plastic flowers? Non-latex plastic flowers?"

"...Okay." Dilan could work with that, really. And it's not like they would think him any weirder.

[techie_prowess]

Hey, it was Pierce's idea too! He'd totally take half blame and weird points! "There needs to be a manual," Pierce grumped. "Sorry I made you faint, appropriate ways to alleviate the awkward after are....yadda yadda yadda."

"You write it." Dilan said, "I'm not good with people."

[techie_prowess]

"I don't want to write it! I want to use it! Writing it means I'd have to know what girls are thinking and I don't! Maybe if we ask nice the twins will do it?"

"Or you could ask Braig." Dilan offered, smiling sweetly, "He probably knows."

[techie_prowess]

"He probably knows the theory, but he dates you dude. He hasn't been testing any theories, especially lately! How could we guarantee that his book would be accurate?"

"Scientific trial." Dilan said. "Duh."

[techie_prowess]

"Hmmm. Yeah, that is a valid point too, but we might make MORE women angry in the trial period for testing out the book."

[sliceitwithwind]

"We?" Dilan blinked at him, "I have Braig."

[techie_prowess]

"You don't have to date them! You upset women too!" What, Dilan would leave him alone in this?!

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, but I upset them different." Dilan pointed out.
